Meet One Of Branch 725's
Brightest Lights

By Eric K. Jackson, Branch 725

He’s the handsome gentleman that everyone says is “full of it”. What he's full of is information. His name is Andrew Kearney. And he is one of Branch 725’s brightest lights. In other words, he is destined to be a big part of the future of Branch 725.

In the past several years Andrew has worked very hard to get his Union I.Q. to a high level. Particularly, in 2010, he has really stepped up his efforts and done an excellent job when given the opportunity.

First, he was appointed by President Jim McCullough and Director of Route Adjustment Les Dillman to be on the very challenging route team. That job entails not only having a working knowledge of the M-39 and applicable manuals, but also the intestinal fortitude to withstand member’s verbal backlash (which often occurs). Andy excelled at it.

He was next appointed by President McCullough to fill the role of Branch CDL (Congressional District Liaison) vacated by Bob Zigmont. He took the job head on and worked the past election cycle with vigor. Although a very difficult task it was going door to door to try and get union friendly politicians into office, Andrew pushed through without complaint. He made it known to the ‘movers and shakers” his observations and recommendations, but he exhibited the credo “there is no crying in politics”.

Andrew’s biggest strengths are his unselfish nature and tireless effort for the benefit of the branch. All his knowledge about union activity and concern for others comes from hours of research on his computer. No, there is no substitute for hard work.

So, when you hear Andy spouting off about one subject or another, just take a close listen. You might just learn a thing or two from one of Branch 725’s up and comers. Yes, he’s the guy that just volunteered for another committee.
