Executive Board Voted in by Acclamation
By Eric K. Jackson, Branch 725
Right: Andrew Kearney, Barbara Kearney and Jim Watson
Westchester, Pa. - On this day, September 2, 2009 the members of NALC Branch 725 met for their monthy general meeting. High on the agenda was the election nominations for the next term which starts in 2010 through 2013. Consistant with the by-laws, public notification was published through the Nalc Postal Record. The notice of nominations was also posted on the front page of this website for the last few months.
With a motion from the floor, the current Executive Board moved to the audience and the Election committee took center stage and began the process of nominations from the floor.
Each office up is put up for nominations and when no one runs against a single nominee, that person is voted to the postion by acclaimation. Fortunately every perosn that is on the current Board who got nominated, was voted in by acclamation. This is not only a sign that people feel secure with the leadership, but it also saved the branch about $600.00 in the cost of running an election. In these trying times it's good to know that we are unified in our efforts to push forward as a branch and fight the daily fight that we do as Unionists.
The branch previously voted to eliminate and combine some positions to streamline our Executive Board. The new Executive Board for 2010 through 2013 is as follows;
- President - Jim McCullough
- Vice-President - Rhonda Massari
- Treasurer - Dave Carfagno
- Secretary - Mark Picareli
- Director Of Education - Les Dillman
- Director of Health Benefits/MBA - Gerry Galagher
- Sargeant-at-Arms - Tom Mullins
- Director of Retirees - Gene Dolan
- Trustees;
- Jim Dolan Jr.
- Bill Melon
- Bob Zigmont
The Executive Board thanked eveyone for their kind acknowledgement and promised to continue to work hard for the membership.
This is the process that takes place at every level of the Nalc. So if you are not satisfied with your local representation, sign up for nomination as Shop Steward in your office in November. If needed, and election will be held for that position with an Election Committee designated to ensure proper procedure.
If not, the current Shop Steward will be understood to be voted in by acclamation!
